Talons too hot!

(1 / 4)

Just FYI Steel Talons is not going out tomorrow. I am performing a heat test on
it by connecting thermocouples to it because the left side would not work at all
after the back door was closed for a short time.

Talons temperature measurements

(2 / 4)

Here are the temperature measurements after running overnight:
Monitor compartment: 41
Upper center of electronics compartment: 38
Lower center of electronics compartment: 29
Center area of MSYNC pcb: 34
Audio pcb audio output transistor: 44

The game was playable this morning even though it was very hot. I got into self-
test and found no errors, but when I exited self-test I got a "bad poly bufffer
error".

ambient room temp

(3 / 4)

I forgot to mention that the ambient room temp was 22 deg.

Here are the temperature measurements for Steel Talons with the fan installed
on the right side of the cabinet:

Monitor compartment: 20 deg (41 w/o fan)
Upper center of PCB compartment: 28 deg (38 w/o fan)
Above center of PCB set: 28 deg (34 w/o fan)
Ambient room temp: 22 deg (same as prev test)

The left side did have 5 Error counts but no "bad poly buffer errors" nor resets
occured over the weekend. The right side had 2 resets and 1 comm error.
