atari email archive

a collection of messages sent at Atari from 1983 to 1992.

What is this?

This site showcases a collection of emails sent within Atari from 1983 to 1992. Read the intro blog post to learn more.

Where did all these messages come from?

Jed Margolin released these emails on his website in 2001. Jed was a hardware engineer at Atari from 1979 to 1992, and these messages comprise his inbox while he was at Atari.

Do you have permission to use these emails?

Yes, I received permission from Jed Margolin.

Are Jobs or Wozniak mentioned in the archive?

No. They both left Atari well before the first message in the archive was sent.

What are the suffixes like KIM:: and CHARM:: that I see in all the From/To fields?

They are names of VAX nodes which email users sent/received email to and from. If you had an email account, you had it on a specific node -- e.g. KIM, CHARM, ERNIE, etc.

This message and this other message help explain -- indirectly -- what's going on in the headers.

I have feedback/I'd like to get in touch. How can I do that?

DM or tweet at Atari Email Archive on Twitter.
